What will my legacy be?
You personally and your Global PACT team will leave a lasting legacy in “your” villages. Do not discount the simplest, most human legacy you will leave, the legacy of caring. You will be working in villages no one else has ever lifted a finger for. Your contributions will never be forgotten.
But Global PACT isn’t just a feel-good program; you and your team will develop a real solution to a real local problem that will really be implemented in the months after you leave. That project – whether it is a well-baby or clean water or health information project – all of the people it touches, and all of the illnesses it prevents are your legacy, too.
The most important legacy that you will leave will be intangible, however. It will be the can-do attitude and problem solving skills that you bring from your personal and professional lives. These will be your great contribution to the Global PACT training process. And these will be your real legacy that your local partners will use over and over to solve community problems long into the future. In a sense, every successful community project in the future will be part of your living legacy.
