Safety and Security
The safety and security of Global PACT participants are paramount. We rigorously train all our staff members on emergency policies and procedures. Upon your arrival in-country, the Global PACT team will meet you at the airport and accompany you to our residence on chartered buses or public trams. You will meet all of the other particpants on the first night during a welcome reception.
All classroom and residential facilities are located on the campuses of our accredited partner universities and nongovernmental organizations in the respective countries.
Transportation is on widely-used public transport or chartered buses. All of our program locations are in cities, so you should take general precautions, but crime rates are no higher than in most US cities. No matter where you go in the world we advise you to travel in groups during free time and to avoid high-crime areas.
Global PACT ensures that all participants are insured for emergency situations either by one of our partner organizations or Global PACT itself. We will always carry an emergency cell phone on-site and are within short distances of major medical institutions.
Additional vaccines may be required. You can obtain one based on your own needs and at your own discretion. Consult the United States Centers for Disease Control website for more information.
