Open Source Activism: The Modern Movement for Social Change

Team In Thailand

Some people think that they don’t have the right background to be an agent of change. But regardless of your experience, Global PACT can show you how to contribute to the development of a project. Artists, for instance, have forever sustained struggles and advanced free discussion. Businesses can be a powerful force for social change through fair labor practices, innovative products and services, and environmental initiatives. Even nonprofits need accountants! Doctors literally save lives, scientists make life-changing discoveries, teachers shape the minds of young people. The list goes on, the point being no matter what your skills may be, you can apply them to making change.

Community Interaction

The Global PACT training is designed for all kinds of people. In fact, inclusion is an important principal in the modern movement of creating social change. The beauty of being an activist is that an individual can pursue any occupation and hold any belief. The exciting part of becoming an activist is that one encounters different people and viewpoints than with those they are familiar.

It is important to recognize that a person’s perspectives are the result of a unique background and set of experiences, and that anyone who is committed to making change has something to contribute. An effective activist respects and tries to understand all different types of people, and approaches problems in a way that takes different needs and values into account. One great part of working with a diverse set of peers is that where one person sees a dead end, another sees a clever solution.
